Fastest safe settings

Hi
Love the program but been getting slow write speeds.

I'm backing up approx 570GB  to an external Maxtor M3 4GB drive over USB3 and getting average write speeds of 500 KB/s to 900 KB/s with the occasional peak to 6 MB/s for a split second in Task Manager Disk Transfer rate.

I've checked the drive with the usual disk tools and they show I should be getting much higher speeds.

Are they some settings I need to tweak?

Cheers
Chris

Under 1 MBps write speed is abnormal and as with any abnormally weird behavior the first thing to check is your antivirus. If you are running one, switch it off, as completely as possible, or at the very least white-list bvckup2.exe and source/backup locations with it.

See if this applies and let me know if it helps.

Yes, running Norton Security.
Disabled Firewall and Auto-Protect and and average write speeds increase to 2 MB/s with some peaks up at 80 MB/s whilst monitoring in Task Manager.
Bvckup2.exe is trusted by the Norton Firewall

Some log entries from Bvckup 2 showing throughput:

That's still awfully low. For an USB3 connected drive HDD it should be in 30-50 MBps range.

At the risk of asking the obvious - it's not plugged into an USB2 port by any chance? Also, what's the speed you see if you are to copy the same files using Windows Explorer?

Checked the port and definitely is USB3.  Tried swapping from font port to back panel USB3 and much the same.

Tried copying with Windows Explorer and got better transfer rates, Larger files it was peaking around 125 MB/s and sitting about 80 MB/s.  Smaller files it peaked around 100 MB/s and sitting about 60MB/s
